Planned Parenthood and Live Infants After Abortion.

Wednesday, August 5th, 2015

David Daleiden, the man behind the undercover Planned Parenthood videos and project lead at the Center for Medical Progress, revealed on CNN Friday morning, 7/31/15 that an unreleased video has one biotech company “very scared.” Daleiden said the group met with “top leadership” at StemExpress, a biotech company that supposedly partners with Planned Parenthood on the harvesting of fetal tissue. Further, he claimed the officials made a shocking admission. “In a meeting with their top leadership, they admitted that they sometimes get fully intact fetuses shipped to their laboratory from the abortion clinics they work with, and that could be prima facie evidence of born alive infants,” Daleiden said. “And so that’s why they’re trying to suppress that videotape and they’re very scared of it.”

Nevertheless, a 5th video , which apparently was released, seemed to confirm that some at Planned Parenthood were perfoming this illegal procedure.

As a follow-up discussion to the Planned Parenthood mess outlined in my post of 8/2/15, the following is a report by IJReview on 8/4/15:

The U.S. Senate tried to pass a bill that would end federal funding of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The bill, introduced by Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) in response to the undercover Planned Parenthood videos. Altho 51 Republicans and 2 Democrats voted yes, 44 Democrats and 2 Republican voted no. Sixty votes are generally required to force a vote in the Senate.

Two Democrats, Senators Joe Donnelly (IN) and Joe Manchin (W.V.), voted in favor of the legislation, while two Republicans, Senator Mark Kirk (IL) and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY), voted against it. McConnell voted no as a procedural move to preserve the option of bringing up the bill for another vote.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who is both a co-sponsor of the bill and a presidential candidate, was the only member to miss the vote.

On the Senate floor, McConnell said:

“Instead of subsidizing a political group, this bill would ensure funds continue to flow to community health centers and hospitals that provide more comprehensive health services — and have many more facilities nationwide.”

But Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) countered:

“It’s our responsibility in the Senate to ensure that American women have access to care. It’s our obligation to protect our wives, our sisters, our daughters, our granddaughters. Protect them from the absurd policies of a Republican Party that has lost its moral compass.”

According to its 2013-2014 annual report, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America received $528.4 million in taxpayer dollars last year.

The House of Representatives adjourned for August recess without voting on a bill introduced by Representative Diane Black (R-TN) that would eliminate federal funding only for Planned Parenthood clinics that perform abortions, rather than the entire organization.

Lawmakers are likely to revisit the question of whether to fund Planned Parenthood in September, when Congress must approve a new spending bill to fund the federal government.

Planned Parenthood and the Sale of Fetal Body Parts: The Continuing Decline of Our Culture’s Moral and Ethical Values

Planned Parenthood and the Sale of Fetal Body Parts: The Continuing Decline of Our Culture’s Moral and Ethical Values

The Center for Medical Progress has scammed Planned Parenthood and obtained videotapes of senior medical employees of the organization negotiating on the sale of fetal body parts obtained during abortions. Also detailed was how abortions were performed in a special manner to avoid destroying the organs. The body parts were being sold to “middlemen” who then sold them to various research labs.

As usual, Dr. Charles Krauthammer went directly to the core of this disturbing practice and articulated the many faceted elements in the issue in an opinion piece post carried by Deming Headlight Opinion on 7/30/2015

Incidently, Congress is designing a bill to defund Planned Parenthood and give the federal money to other women’s health organizations. President Obama threatens to veto such a bill. I guess he likes Planned Parenthood’s fetal harvesting program.

Charles Krauthammer: Planned Parenthood Videos Changing Abortion Debate

Planned Parenthood’s reaction to the release of a clandestinely recorded conversation about the sale of fetal body parts was highly revealing. After protesting that it did nothing illegal, it apologized for the “tone” of one of its senior directors.

Her remarks lacked compassion, admitted Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards. As if Dr. Deborah Nucatola’s cold and casual discussion over salad and wine of how the fetal body can be crushed with forceps in a way that leaves valuable organs intact for sale is some kind of personal idiosyncrasy.

On the contrary, it’s precisely the kind of psychic numbing that occurs when dealing daily with industrial scale destruction of the growing, thriving, recognizably human fetus.

This was again demonstrated by the release of a second video showing another official sporting that same tone, casual and even jocular, while haggling over the price of an embryonic liver. “If it’s still low, then we can bump it up,” she joked, “I want a Lamborghini.”

Abortion critics have long warned that the problem is not only the obvious — what abortion does to the fetus — but also what it does to us.

The Planned Parenthood revelations will have an effect. Perhaps not on government funding, given the Democratic Party’s unwavering support and the president wishing it divine guidance. Planned Parenthood might escape legal jeopardy as well, given the loophole in the law banning the sale of fetal parts that permits compensation for expenses (shipping and handling, as it were).

But these revelations will have an effect on public perceptions. Just as ultrasound altered feelings about abortion by showing the image, the movement, the vibrant living-ness of the developing infant in utero, so too, I suspect, will these Planned Parenthood revelations, by throwing open the door to the backroom of the clinic where that being is destroyed.

The nightmare for abortion advocates is a spreading consciousness of how exactly a healthy fetus is turned into a mass of marketable organs, how, in the words of a senior Planned Parenthood official, one might use “a less crunchy technique” — crush the head, spare the organs — “to get more whole specimens.”

The effect on the public is a two-step change in sensibilities. First, when ultrasound reveals how human the living fetus appears. Next, when people learn, as in these inadvertent admissions, what killing the fetus involves.

The advent of ultrasound has coincided with a remarkable phenomenon: Of all the major social issues, abortion is the only one that has not moved toward increasing liberalization.

While the legalization of drugs, the redefinition of marriage and other assertions of individual autonomy have advanced, some with astonishing rapidity, abortion attitudes have remained largely static. The country remains evenly split.

What will be the reaction to these Planned Parenthood revelations? Right now, to try to deprive it of taxpayer money. Citizens repelled by its activities should not be made complicit in them. But why not shift the focus from the facilitator to the procedure itself?

The House has already passed a bill banning abortion after 20 weeks. That’s far more fruitful than trying to ban it entirely because, apart from the obvious constitutional issue, there is no national consensus about the moral status of the early embryo.

There’s more agreement on the moral status of the later-term fetus. Indeed, about two-thirds of Americans would ban abortion after the first trimester.
