The Geographic and Electoral Divide

Professor Joseph Olson of  Hemline  University  School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota  has done some research on the 2008 election. Here are some of his findings:

Number of States won by:
Democrats: 19
Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Democrats: 580,000
Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Democrats: 127 million
Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Democrats: 13.2
Republicans: 2.1

Does this tell us that there is a gigantic cleavage in our society and our electoral system? The answer is “yes” and the divide is becoming progressively wider. It is exacerbated by the increasing alienation of the public and the disconnect between the people and their elected representatives. It threatens our future as a democratic republic.

I would just like to inform you if you haven’t yet took the time to look it up after the video, Hong Kong does not have any inretnet cencorship measures in place. Your videos keep me entertained and have influenced be to be better as a person in my point of view and have enriched me with the initiative to think and knowledge that i would not have even thought about. You are a nice change after having almost all my peers scream at me about cod, battlefield and consololololol.
