Title: Blog by Novelist William S. Frankl, MD

A great literary giant has left us.

This is my first post on my new blog, and so I thought I should began by noting the passing of a great author, writer and champion of the rights of Man. Of course, I’m speaking of Alexander Solzhenitsyn. He died on August 8, 2008. In his memoirs entitled, ” The Oak and the Calf, ” the Soviet regime was the oak, and Solzhenitsyn was the calf, and the book described their battle to the death. The Soviet Union died in 1991 when the Red flag was lowered from the Kremlin’s ramparts on December 25th of that year. Solzhenitsyn died almost 17 years later after a day at his desk writing.

    Dr Frankel:

See my other e-mail where I introduce myself (Brian and I tried environmental cases together in the early 90s). In light of the above, you may want to see my encomium to Solzhenitsyn in the September issue of Bookslut.com, ‘The Last Giant’
