The Alien in the White House

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Dorothy Rabinowitz, a member of the Wall Street Editorial Board has written a most insightful opinion piece on June 9th, in the Wall Street Journal which describes the deep division that exists between the American people and President Obama and his Administration. He is indeed an “alien” in the White House. Unlike most of us, President Obama dismisses the notion that America is better or even luckier than other nations. He loathes the idea that Americans tend to think of themselves as special among the peoples of the Earth, considering this as ignorance and ethnocentrism. President Obama considers himself a multiculturalist –– a citizen of the world, first, and only secondarily President of the United States. He looks upon cosmopolitanism as morally and intellectually superior to patriotism, and apologizes for America’s supposed depredations, despite the enormous blood, treasure, political and cultural gifts America has given to the world since its founding. Obama is seriously disconnected from this country, which is a looming tragedy for us as well as him.

Did The “Lone Wolf” Really Have A Pack Howling In The Background?

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

There’s a lot of apocrypha flying around on the blogosphere concerning Secretary Napolitano’s “one-off” Times Square bomber. So, whether the following is true, half-true, or fiction is hard to say. However, it does make a  good story:

When Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was first asked about the botched Times Square bombing, she said it was likely a “one-off” event. Today, an alleged unnamed Homeland official contradicted that statement based on “one compelling piece of evidence.”
“We now know that we were dealing with a coordinated attack, involving perhaps dozens of co-conspirators and robust technological capabilities,” the anonymous source said, “And we knew he wasn’t a lone wolf based on a single fact: the driver of the bomb-filled SUV actually found a parking space in Times Square.”
Initially, the bomb was dubbed “crude” and “amateurish.” However, it is now said that the preparation and careful orchestration of events needed to get an SUV into a curbside parking space anywhere in New York City requires a high-level of intellectual and technical sophistication.
“You don’t just drive into New York and park your car,” the reputed HSA source said. “Without a real-time satellite video feed and agents on the ground in constant communication with the driver, that kind of operation can take hours on a good day. Even with all of those resources, the perps still had to count on a certain degree of luck.”
